[ ENCOUNTER: Enlighten Patient Doctor Communication Without Language Barrier]
Aimed to empower medical students by improving the way of communication with deaf patients to create inclusivity in our healthcare service, ENCOUNTER was held in a series of activities consisting of 3 interventions. On March 17, 2021, SCOME CIMSA UGM held a webinar titled ‘Unfold the exclusivity’ with 3 outstanding experts of this field.
After the webinar, we held the remaining interventions on April 9, 2021 & April 17, 2021. With these interventions the participants can learn the deaf culture, basic sign language, and basic medical terms in sign language. After 3 interventions, we hope the participant knows more about the communication between doctor & deaf patient, sign language, and the importance of learning it.
